Avec un objet défini " chiya " signifie 'attendre' mais aussi 'prendre soin de...' (Cf. esp. atender). Launey 80.

Dans le sens de regarder chiya est toujours précédé de tla- jamais d'un préfixe défini le terme qui en francais serait le complément d'objet est en Nahuatl un locatif. S'il s'agit d'un humain la formule habituelle est " mîxco nocpac tlachiya ", il me regarde tlitt il regarde sur mes yeux et au dessus de moi. Launey II 14.
